Dogs that are not adequately exercised, or mentally challenged can become frustrated and relieve their frustration by displaying unwanted behavior in the form of destruction by chewing or pawing, excessive barking or whining, and separation anxiety. More serious behavioral problems such as aggression towards people and other animals often appear when there is also a lack of leadership in the home. Other behavior issues may be poor social skills, inappropriate soiling, low doggy-esteem, or fear of certain situations.

Priority Dog provides a fantastic “Fresh Start” Program that can help many behavioral issues disappear! When all of a dogs needs are met and satisfied, behavior problems are rarely an issue. When dogs are so far taken away from their primal pack living world and allowed to live solely by human standards, the frustration of not having their dog needs met slowly turns into habitual behavior problems. This is the dogs way of dealing with their circumstances. Just like caged animals at a zoo develop such issues as pacing back and forth along the cage wall. It’s not that they are living in a bad home, many live like kings, with gourmet food, fluffy beds, and a big yard. In our minds, we think “how can this not be great for my dog? How can they possibly not be happy?” It’s because all of their dog needs are not met. Two of the key things dogs need are leadership and exercise. But in order to start from the beginning again, you need to get rid of the behavior problems that your dog has developed. The “Fresh Start” Program allows your dog to be immersed back into a dogs world! He/ she will live amongst a pack of dogs allowed to run/ play/ eat/ sleep having all of a dogs needs met. A completely thorough evaluation and understanding of your dogs personality, temperament, and habits will be compiled. During your dogs stay at Priority Dog, specific Behavior Problems will be worked on daily. Not only will you dog have his/ her daily lessons, but they will also learn from the other dogs.
